Client Spotlight: Richmond Memorial Health Foundation

  • Racial Equity Training – EWC has conducted quarterly racial equity trainings for RMHF grantees for the past two years. Attendees are non-profit leaders within the Richmond region at various levels on their racial equity journey. 
  • Equity & Health Fellows– EWC worked with Communitas Consulting to design and facilitate a 9-month fellowship with 12 community leaders that focused on advancing racial equity in the built environment. 

Report Spotlight : Shockoe Bottom Equitable Economic Development Resource Guide

EWC worked with The National Trust for Historic Preservation, Preservation Virginia, The Sacred Ground Reclamation Project, 5 equitable development experts, the City of Richmond and community leaders to define a path toward equitable economic development in Shockoe Bottom. The final report identified a set of goals, best practices and recommendations for the City of Richmond to pursue equitable redevelopment in the area.

Community Facilitation

Project Spotlight: Partnership for Housing Affordability – Regional Housing Framework

EWC in collaboration with Dialectix Consulting partnered with The Partnership for Housing Affordability to design and facilitate a community engagement process to develop Richmond’s first Regional Housing Framework. The process involved partnering with local community organizations that work with diverse populations to co-host 20 listening sessions with community members and 8 large scale community meetings.

This process also included hiring local community members as outreach workers to help promote the listening sessions as well as gain feedback on the process from various community-based organizations. 

Report Spotlight: Richmond City Health District – Food Access and Equity Task Force 

Community Engagement Strategy 

EWC worked with Richmond City Health District to create a community engagement strategy for their food policy process in collaboration with their Food Access and Equity Task force. The process included community-led outreach and engagement within disinvested neighborhoods across the City of Richmond. Community residents were the core decision makers in designing and implementing the engagement process.

In 2019, EWC worked with the board and staff  Virginia Community Health Worker Association to develop their strategic plan. EWC worked with the board and staff to develop a plan for the future of the organization in anticipation of transitions and the changing needs of the Richmond Community
